Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions

❓

What is behavioral health treatment? +

Behavioral health treatment addresses mental health conditions and substance use disorders through a range of therapeutic approaches. This includes counseling, psychiatric services, medication-assisted treatment, group therapy, and rehabilitation programs designed to help individuals achieve and maintain recovery and mental wellness.

❓

What is the difference between PHP, IOP, and outpatient care? +

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is the most intensive outpatient level β€” typically 5 days/week for 5–6 hours/day. Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is less intensive β€” usually 3–4 days/week for 3 hours/session. Standard outpatient is 1–2 sessions per week. A clinical assessment will help determine the right level of care for you.

❓

Does Maryland Medicaid cover behavioral health treatment? +

Yes. Maryland Medicaid covers a broad range of behavioral health services including outpatient mental health, substance use disorder treatment, PRP, and case management. Coverage may vary by your specific Medicaid managed care organization (MCO). Call us to verify your benefits at no cost.

❓

What is 42 CFR Part 2 and why does it matter? +

42 CFR Part 2 is a federal law that provides exceptionally strong confidentiality protections for records related to substance use disorder treatment. It means that information about your SUD treatment cannot be shared with most third parties β€” including employers, law enforcement, and even family members β€” without your written consent, except in very limited circumstances. This protection is stronger than standard HIPAA.

❓

How do I know if I need treatment? +

If you or a loved one is experiencing challenges related to substance use, mental health, mood, relationships, work, or daily functioning, it may be time to seek professional support. You don't have to be in crisis to seek help β€” in fact, early intervention leads to better outcomes. Call us for a no-obligation consultation.

❓

Can I continue working or going to school while in treatment? +

Yes, many of our programs are designed with this in mind. Our IOP and outpatient programs offer flexible scheduling, including evening hours. PHP requires more time commitment during the day. We will work with you to find the right balance of treatment and life responsibilities.
